Posted below are a few photos from our 1st Science experiment.  We will follow up today with additional questions and checking for evidence to support our claim.  Also, please check your child's backpack for a copy of the 2nd experiment we did.  It is a simple one to do and requires only a glass bowl, a dry sewing needle and water.
3C's initial predictions for the celery and food-colored water.  We will create a bar graph and additional questions after our next observation.

Students noticed that after a 3 day weekend, the plants did begin to wilt. The class decided the wilting had more to do with the long weekend than the food-colored water.  So, we didn't change any of the original predictions.
Day 1:  celery and carnations soaking in colored water.  No real noticeable change after 60 minutes.  A few obvious changes in color were noticed at the end of the day on Friday.
Day 4:  Tuesday, Sept. 20th--- celery soaked/place in darker colored water (blue or green) had very noticeable changes to the colors on the leaves.  Our "claim" that plants soak up water and food to survive appears to have been demonstrated by the colored water moving to the tops of the plants.
