This Week we kicked of our PTO fundraiser. Our goal is for each student to sell 8 items. For every 3 items sold the students were allowed to bring back a yellow slip and on Monday and Friday they were awarded frogs that they could wear around to show support for the fundraiser. Each day certain frogs were called and students wearing those frogs got to receive an additional prize. The prizes really help motivate the students which help make the fundraiser successful. The PTO helps fund field trips and other supplies needed at the school. We appreciate all the help and support with ensuring that the fundraiser is successful.
Fundraiser materials are due Monday, October 3. All money must be turned in at this time as well. The students may continue to wear their frogs next week because more prizes will be available on Monday. Feel free to email me with any questions.
In Science we have been researching information about six different habitats. The students are divided into six groups and were assigned a habitat to research. The habitats we are studying are desert, rain forest, grassland (Savannah), freshwater pond, ocean, and Arctic tundra. The students have already started to bring in a variety of supplies needed to build these habitats, which we will begin next week. The students worked with their groups to come up with the materials they needed and have been asked to bring them from home. The supplies should be here by Monday. It would be helpful for us if you could remind your child of what they are supposed to bringing for their group. We will begin building our Habitats Monday.
Wednesday, Oct. 5th is an early dismissal. Students will be released at 12:55.
Fall Fitness day is Oct. 7th. Students should wear tennis shoes and bring a jacket. Our Specials time is from 8:30 to 9:00 and it is still cool during this time.
At the end of the week we finished up our Reader's Theatres this week that contained information related to our science unit on animals and plants. Each group was able to share their Reader's Theatre aloud to the other third grade classes. The students really enjoyed sharing and hearing what the other third grade classes have been working on as well.
Thanks for all who attended the Art installation on Tuesday. The student's art was displayed outside and all grades participated in a short concert. This was put together by Mrs. Kline and Mrs. Spears and was a great way to show the rest of the school and parents what the students have been working on in Music and Art.
